ALESSANDRA MELE

Having graduated in Contemporary History in Milan, Alessandra quickly abandoned the idea of a University career after somewhat falling upon the publishing world by chance. Finding work with Rizzoli, a real passion for the industry ignited and after several years in Editing she moved to Foreign Rights and soon found herself managing the entire department.

Wanting international experience, Alessandra furthered her Rights knowledge in Spain with Esfera de los libros before returning to Italy where she managed the Foreign Office for Grandi & Associati for four years.
In 2013, the inspiration and occasion came together allowing her to create something she had always wanted… book@ literary agency.

VALENTINA MARTELLO

Following her graduation from the Università Cattolica di Brescia with a degree in Science and Technology of Arts and Performance and a brief but dazzling theatre career, Valentina started her publishing journey in London with Curtis Brown. It was there that a love affair with children’s books began and she continued her specialisation upon her return to Milan as a Foreign Rights Agent for Atlanyca Entertainment.

Moving to Australia in 2012, Valentina gained more valuable international experience as a Rights Executive for Penguin Australia. Her next role saw her working as an Agent for Berla & Griffini Rights Agency in Milan but craving her beloved children’s and young adult book world, in 2016 she became a partner in the fast growing book@ literary agency with the objective of creating a dedicated section specialised in literature for children and young adults.
